My favourite subject - ME!

I've worked for many years as an actor, most recently playing the lead role of Edward in The Way Old Friends Do at the Criterion Theatre in the West End, directed by Mark Gatiss.  Other credits include The Mousetrap (West End) and Death Knell (UK Tour).  I also played the title role in the cult short film Paul is Dead which means I can safely say I'm the only actor to have played both Paul McCartney and Frida from ABBA.

More recently I've turned my hand to directing.  It's been an incredibly rewarding experience crossing over to the other side.  I love digging into the characters with the cast and bringing the best out of what they bring to the role.

I made my directorial debut in 2021 with a production of Neil Simon's California Suite for which I won the Cormac Richards Theatre Award for Best Director. I've already had the good fortune to direct across a range of genres from drama to comedy, thrillers, panto and even immersive.  In 2024 I turned my hand to writing with a 'radio-play' inspired comedy take on Dracula (called Dracula: Un-Dead Air) that enjoyed a sell-out run at the Old Red Lion.

I studied English Literature at University College London where I found any excuse to write about women in Shakespeare's History Plays, and then I continued at UCL to do an MA in Film Studies where I found any excuse to write about women in horror.  Yes, I am gay.

Experiences in the theatre that will stay with me forever include: The RSC's nine hour production of Tantalus at the Barbican; seeing Maggie Smith, Frances de la Tour and Anastasia Hille in Edward Albee's Three Tall Women; and a school trip to Starlight Express - they did a lighting display beforehand that included spinning the bridge around whilst blasting the overture to Phantom and it's still the most thrilling thing to ever happen in a theatre.
